Best Diet To Have & To Avoid On Your Period

HELLO Period Fam!

Let's dive into ONE MOST RAISED CONCERN women have when they're on their periods. What's the best & worst diet to have that'll help us pass this phase easy peasy! LET's get that off our period wellness list today 🙂

A healthy diet is important for every day of your life and can specifically benefit you when you are feeling a bit lethargic and hormonally challenged; like during menstruation.

✅ A good rule of thumb is to make sure you eat a well-rounded, colorful diet packed full of fresh fruits and vegetables.

✅ Add proteins like chicken, eggs & fish which can also benefit you. Especially those containing omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon. These fatty acids are getting attention for their potential ability to alleviate pain.

✅ Calcium rich foods can help you reduce period cramping. Products like cheese, yogurt and milk are available at any dairy store & are best for itYou can also get yourself 1000mg of calcium a day by eating almonds, sesame seeds, spinach, kale, figs, soybeans, and tofu (WE LOVE TO-FU).

✅ Drink a warm or hot cup of water and hot beverages to help your uterine muscles relax and loosen up your whole body.

✅ Speaking of drinking, staying hydrated is the key during this time of month. It is preferred that you should drink an average of eight 8-ounce glasses of water every day. But that can be a hard target to hit. So, look out for water-based foods like strawberries, blueberries, celery, cucumber, lettuce, and melon which can help you a lot.

If you feel a little bit overwhelmed by your growing period grocery list, you can always try to get these nutrients through vitamins instead. Just make sure you get enough calcium, Vitamin E, Vitamin D, thiamine, magnesium, omega-3s and fish oils.

Hormonal changes may cause bloating, diarrhea, and constipation, during your period so it is best to avoid foods and beverages that can make these symptoms worse.

But that's not it. Many of the known "B" and "C" vegetables can cause gas and bloating.

YOU KNOW what "B" and "C" vegetables are? 🤔

Beans

Broccoli

Brussels sprouts

Cabbage

Cauliflower

✅ Try to limit your intake of Alcohol and carbonated beverages, while you are at it.

✅ Try not to overeat or eat too fast as these things can cause gas and bloating.

Stay Healthy!

Love,
